Texas Sage
Showstopping silver foliage and purple blooms – Texas Sage is a big favorite for gardeners in the Lone Star State. A Texas native (duh!) this evergreen shrub loves full sun and is drought-tolerant. It also attracts pollinators and won’t get eaten by deer (most of the time). Watch for blooms throughout the year, especially during periods with high humidity – this is why Texas Sage was given the nickname ‘Barometer Bush’.
Here’s a few varieties we have in stock now:
‘Greado’ Sage
An upright-growing shrub – this variety reaches 6-feet tall and 8-feet wide at maturity. Lavender-purple flowers appear in summertime through fall, or when humidity is high.
‘Lynn’s Legacy’ Sage
A dense, round-shaped evergreen, this variety grows to be 5-feet tall and wide. This selection is not as dependent on changes in humidity to bloom – so you get more flowers during the warm months! Masses of lavender flowers appear throughout summer and fall.
‘Heavenly Cloud’ Sage
A more recent addition to the Texas Sage family – ‘Heavenly Cloud’ grows to be 6-feet tall and wide. This sage is a hybrid between ‘Green Cloud’ Sage and ‘Chihuahuan’ Sage, and was developed by Texas A&M University.
