Shady Summer Yards Can Be Sunny Winter Yards!
Do you have a shady yard? Just because it’s shady in the summer doesn’t mean it’s that way in the winter!
Shady yards can become sunny yards in the winter due to the trees losing their leaves. Look up at your trees – do you have deciduous trees that will lose their leaves? If so, you will have much more sun in your yard in winter than in the summer.
Once the leaves fall it opens many shady yards to the sun and enables you to plant colorful winter annuals. Determine where the sun will shine once the leaves are gone and this will be your sunny winter garden.
Enjoy pansies, violas, ornamental cabbage and kale all winter long. These happy flowers will bloom throughout the winter and then will naturally begin to wane around the same time the leaves fill out on your trees.
