Planting for Success!
We promise, planting is simple once you know the guidelines!
Here are our easy planting instructions for shrubs and trees that won’t let you down (also available online for download, or ask your cashier for a planting brochure when checking out):
1. Remove plant from pot and measure the depth of the root ball
2. Dig hole 1-inch less than the depth of the root ball
3. Dig hole at LEAST 6-inches wider than the root ball
4. Place the plant in the hole making sure that 1 inch of the root ball is above ground level.
5. Fill dirt in around the root ball. If using soil amendment mix it with existing dirt that was removed and backfill the hole. DO NOT PLACE DIRT ON TOP OF THE ROOT BALL.
6. Cover root ball with up to 3 inches of mulch to help retain water and prevent weed growth.
7. Water the tree slowly so the water soaks through the root ball. Apply the liquid root stimulator at this time.
Just remember:
“Plant it LOW, it won’t grow.
Plant it HIGH, it won’t die.”
