It Is Too Early To Fertilize Your Lawn!
It is too early to fertilize your grass. In early spring the grass is growing new roots which can be easily burned by fertilizer. This weakens your grass which is not your goal.
A good rule of thumb is mow your green grass twice before applying your fertilizer. This assures that the roots are well enough established to absorb the fertilizer and transport it to the blades and shoots.
It is time to apply pre-emergent on your lawn and in flower beds to help prevent warm season weeds from developing.
By applying in February and October you will help reduce the weeds in your lawn and improve the health of your grass since it isn’t competing with weeds for nutrients.
