Floating Camellias

 

The house I grew up in had several red and pink camellias planted in the yard. I remember my mom would cut a camellia flower and float it in a shallow bowl instead of placing the flowers in a vase.
 

Sometimes it would be just a large single flower floating in the bowl, no leaves just that one perfect bloom. Other times she would have several flowers in different stages floating together or include the leaves with the flowers. Something so simple yet so memorable.
