Danny’s Do’s & Don’ts: Lawncare

Do:
• Wait until you mow green grass twice before applying fertilizer.
• Use a spreader to apply the fertilizer and adjust the setting according to the product’s instructions.
• Make 2 passes in different directions (horizontally and vertically) for even coverage to prevent striping your lawn. Set the spreader to half the output.
• Water your lawn after fertilizing to activate it and prevent potential burning.
Don’t:
• Fertilize your grass too early, it can harm the roots.
• Be fooled by mowing weeds instead of grass, wait until you are mowing grass, not weeds.
• Forget to apply fertilizer to dry grass rather than wet grass to allow the fertilizer to reach the soil rather than sticking to the grass blades.
• Be surprised if it is April/May before it is the proper time to fertilize your lawn.
