Danny’s Do’s & Don’ts: How To Have Lush, Flowering Pansies

 

 

 

Do:

• Plant in elevated soil that drains well (avoid planting in low areas).

• Create a Pillow Bed out of potting soil and plant pansies in it (guarantees well-draining soil).

• Plant them in full sun.

• Fertilize pansies with either granular or water soluble fertilizer

o Add granular fertilizer to the soil before planting the pansies or,

o Apply water soluble at least weekly.

• Apply pre-emergent before planting pansies.

• Apply water soluble fertilizer 60 days after using granular fertilizer.
 

Don’t:

• Plant in poor draining soil or in a low area

• Fertilize after planting with a granular food (it will burn the plant)

• Apply pre-emergent after planting (it will burn the plant)

• Overwater
