Compact, Colorful & East Texas Tough

A compact selection of our native yaupon holly is commonly referred to as Eureka Gold since its real name is rather long. It stands out with brilliant golden/yellow new growth that glows against its mature chartreuse foliage. The color intensifies into a sunny highlight that brightens beds.

Best of all, it is tough as nails – heat-loving, drought-tolerant once established and adapted to East Texas soils. It keeps its dense, rounded shape naturally and stays small, usually maturing around 3-4 feet tall and wide. This plant is a great choice in hedges, mass plantings, or accent spots where you want dependable color without constant pruning.

As a true yaupon, it’s evergreen, deer-resistant and handles our humidity and unpredictable winters.

If you want a plant that’s both ornamental and low maintenance, Eureka Gold is it – a bright, compact native that thrives in our East Texas climate and brings a welcome pop of sunshine to the landscape.
