‘Monterrey’ Oak (Mexican White Oak)

• Semi-evergreen in our climate, although the amount of foliage retained through winter can vary with temperatures.

• Features larger leaves than a typical Live Oak.

• A beautiful shade tree for landscapes with enough space for its mature canopy.

‘Bur’ Oak

• Can grow approximately 70’–80′ tall with a broad canopy that may reach a similar width.

• Features very large, deeply lobed leaves.

• Long-lived shade tree with a moderate growth rate under good conditions.

• Deciduous tree that loses its leaves during winter.

• Known for its thick, deeply ridged bark.

• Develops an extensive root system and becomes drought tolerant once established.

• Produces distinctive large acorns with a fringed or bur-like cap.

‘Summer Red’ Maple

• Typically grows approximately 30’–40′ tall and 20’–25′ wide.

• Fast-growing under favorable conditions.

• Deciduous tree that loses its leaves during winter.

• New foliage emerges burgundy to red before maturing to green.

• Fall foliage can develop shades of yellow, orange, and red.

• Selected for improved heat tolerance compared with some other Red Maple varieties, making it a better candidate for warmer Southern landscapes.

‘October Glory’ Red Maple

• Typically grows approximately 40’–50′ tall and 25’–35′ wide.

• Moderate to fast-growing under favorable conditions.

• Deciduous tree that loses its leaves during winter.

• Features attractive dark green foliage throughout the growing season.

• Known for brilliant orange-red to crimson fall color.

• Fall color can develop later in the season than some other Red Maple selections.

‘Autumn Blaze’ Maple

• Fast-growing under favorable conditions.

• Known for its brilliant orange-red to scarlet fall foliage.

• Develops a dense, broadly oval canopy as it matures.

• Give this tree plenty of room for root and canopy development when choosing a planting location.

Sycamore

• A very large shade tree that can reach 75’–100′ tall or more with a broad canopy.

• Fast-growing when young and provided with adequate moisture.

• Features large, broad leaves.

• Deciduous tree that loses its leaves during winter.

• Best known for its beautiful exfoliating bark, which develops distinctive patches of white, cream, tan, and gray as the tree matures.

• Because of its mature size, Sycamore is best suited to large landscapes with plenty of room to grow.

‘Fan Tex’ Ash

• Typically develops into a medium-sized shade tree with a broad, rounded canopy.

• Moderate to fast-growing under favorable conditions.

• Deciduous tree that loses its leaves during winter.

• Male selection that does not produce the abundant seed crop associated with female Ash trees.

• Selected for its tolerance of heat and dry conditions once established.

• Fall foliage may develop attractive shades of yellow to golden yellow.

• Important: Ash trees are susceptible to Emerald Ash Borer, an invasive insect that can kill Ash trees. Keep this in mind when considering an Ash for a long-term landscape planting.

Chinese Pistache

• Typically grows approximately 30’–40′ tall and 25’–35′ wide.

• Moderate growth rate under favorable conditions.

• Deciduous tree that loses its leaves during winter.

• Young trees can look somewhat irregular or gangly but develop an attractive rounded canopy as they mature.

• Heat and drought tolerant once established.

• Known for outstanding fall color ranging from yellow and orange to brilliant red.

• Makes an excellent medium-sized shade tree when given adequate room for its mature canopy and root system.
